The Trolls in this area will attack the player unless you first complete Greu's quest and get the troll amulet. Running away and getting the amulet after entering this area may not turn them friendly again.

Yes, there are other caves in the game, but these are actually have a Portal target where they are called "Caves". They are in habited by the Goblin earth and water clans, Rinco and Mopak, as well as some Trolls.
