Am Shaegar, or the Guardian is the main protagonist and player character of Arx Fatalis.
History
The nameless being awakens in a Goblin dungeon, after apparently being hit with some sort of magic. After helping fellow prisoner Kultar escape from his cell after leaving his own, Kultar gives him the name "Am Shaegar", meaning "he who has no name" in a foreign tongue. The two escape from the dungeons and work their way through ruins beneath the Goblin Kingdom, before slaying a Goblin Lord guarding the entrance to another section of the kingdom. After Kultar thanks Am Shaegar, the two part ways.
